please please me the beatles first album - originally released in the UK in 1963.
constantly reissued throughout the 1960`s and onwards up to the 1990`s
the hardest to find pressings are the first issues both the 1st and 2nd press were on the parlophone Gold and black labels-
the difference between these two pressings are the publishing credits for the lennon / mccartney compositions - please please me , do you want to know a secret , misery , I saw her standing there and theres a place . the first press has the publishers as “dick james music “ the 2nd and subsequent pressings has them as “northern songs”
the 3rd or crossover press caused by parlophone changing design from the gold design to the yellow parlophone layout . 2 variants of this set of labels exist - the first set having 33 1/3 after the (xex.421) text - the 2nd not .
the fourth press has the “parlophone .co .ltd .... etc “ text around the label rim and “recording first published 1963” label text
those label styles were the only ones produced in 1963 on UK issues
from 1964 “sold in the uk subject to ..... etc “ text was added to the label
